Club selection of January 2019 - We’ve coined this our ‘Wolf’ offering because of the ability of this old tree offering to relentlessly provide ever-evolving flavors as it opens up after successive infusions. From the Bada Mountain region, this offering is from trees ranging from 100-200 years old. It differs from our previous Bada offerings in complexity, endurance and that ‘relentlessly evolving’. Leaves plucked from high humid regions at 1700 metres by the Hani people, this is a prime example of smooth strength. Generally, older trees and bushes provide teas that are smoother and less astringent than younger bushes. This tea, our ‘Wolf’ has legs that will go and go. Tasting Notes - Three elements contribute to the notes and tones in this tea. Firstly, the age of the trees from which the leaves were harvested. Older trees provide deeper and more profound notes. They also contribute to more complex flavours. Secondly, the fact that these leaves are from a Spring Harvest, give the ‘Wolf’ some serious subtle power that will continue to reveal itself long into the infusions. The last element is the high mountain region, with beautiful rich soils, humidity and isolation. Our most recent effort in our line of old tree offerings that provide a touch more depth.
