Club selection of November 2013 - Slightly mellower than some of the more potent ‘green’ or raw Puerhs, the leaves are harvested from older tea trees, known as ‘ancient tea trees’. This tea isn’t known as ‘old’ tea, but rather tea from old trees. The Pulang Mountains are considered some of the most fertile bastions of ancient tea grown in the world. Tasting Notes - This tea is a classic upgrade in many ways from previous Puerhs in that it contains all of the benefits of a raw Puerh, with the bonus of being more complex due to the age of the trees from which the tea has been harvested. Complex, and slightly less astringent than many unfermented Puerhs, it is a great morning tea for those who with to start with the slight bitter twang, without wanting to upset the stomach. It is the first time we’ve offered a tea from older trees, but we think it a way of expanding the tea palate. We highly recommend taking this tea without previously consuming any strong flavored beverages or foods, to fully take in the subtle flavours.
