Club selection of January 2017 - San Mai lies near the famed and more well known Meng Song Mountain region, and carries some of the area’s traditional tea strengths: depth and vegetal power. This selection is from altitudes of 1400-1500 metres and the bushes range from 20-40 years of age. Both the Hani and Lahu peoples have traditionally lived in the region cultivating, producing, and refining their tea trade. The region’s teas remain little known even though nearby Meng Song has some of the highest altitude tea gardens in southern Yunnan. Discover this San Mai Sheng tea even further with Jeff.
Tasting Notes - There are some nice malty notes in this summer harvest. Three years ago we offered up a Spring harvest, which had strength and a bit more floral hints in the flavor. This present offering has more power and is an ideal tea to age. This is a great tea to play around with in terms of trying slight variation on infusion times as it can run on the strong side.
