Club selection of January 2016 - Located in the Bada Mountain region west of Menghai, Manmai is a tea we’ve offered before but not in the raw form. This our first offering of raw and it is a high altitude Puerh that is clean and well compressed. Smooth with hints of fresh bitterness and grown in a region that many consider to be ideal for camellia sinensis (humid, misty, and cool rather than hot) it is an area that consistently produces excellent teas with great finishes. Tasting Notes - This is a straightforward tea in terms of preparation because of its great balance of astringency and strength. It is a tea that infuses well over the course of 4-8 infusions and carries its character along very nicely. Nice notes that are mild, but with a slightly longer infusion or more leaves it is a tea that can easily provide a stimulant tonic for the morning or mid-afternoon.
