Club selection of June 2019 - Jing Mai’s teas haven’t been enough a part of our offerings but that changes here with our new commitment to offering older tree offerings. This Jing Mai offering is harvested from one of the largest ancient tea forests in the world, called Mang Jing. A slightly smaller leaf that carries loads of floral edge to it, the region’s teas have long had fans that prefer its subtle structure to any others. This Jing Mai offering is from one-hundred or more years’ old trees that sit between 1200-1400 meters from Jing Mai mountain. The oldest reported tea tree in the region is over 1300 years old. Tasting Notes - Noticeably softer and more subtle flavours are one of the immediate observations of many Jing Mai Sheng Puerhs. Traces of honey and florals imbue the tea and despite its relative ‘mildness’ Jing Mai, it is a tea that will continue to put out infusions of delicate minerality. One word often used within Yunnan tea drinking circles to describe Jing Mai is “bright”. It is only one of the reasons why many local drinkers of Sheng Puerh have a strong preference for the honey bright Jing Mai.
