Club selection of May 2017 - Man Mai village sits just east of the border of Myanmar and Xishuangbanna, in southwestern Yunnan province and is a realm of ancient arboreal tea trees. This raw Sheng Puerh is as clean and classic a Puerh as exists for us at JalamTeas bringing with it the vegetal power that the Hani people are known for in this region. Great for ageing or for the present tense, it is a stunning afternoon pick-up for post-lunch lethargy. It is often difficult to access teas from this region from reputable producers due to the demand that Asian tea drinkers increasingly put upon the leaves. Tasting Notes - One of the ‘classic’ Puerhs, Man Mai carries characteristics that are prized in raw Puerhs: clean deep notes, minimal acidity, and long vegetal notes that sweeten at the end. A great tea too, in that it can handle multiple infusions. Many claim that they detect an herbaceous quality to the Man Mai. We recommend this as a tea for present tense consumption.
