Club selection of October 2018 - Strength and depth have been traditional qualities that come through in every Zhang Lang that we’ve offered and so we refer to it as the “Long Sipper”. Loads of depth so that it can age well and be something for the right now. From relatively high up in the Bada Mountain region at gardens that are between 1400-1700 metres both the Hani and Bulang people have a hand in the tea cultivation in the region. This current offering is a Summer 2017 harvest and comes from bushes that are all at least 30 years old. High above and away from man’s sometimes intrusive elements and sprays the region annually offers up deep teas that are clean and powerful. Discover this Zhang Lang Sheng tea even further with Jeff.
Tasting Notes - Known for depth, a bit of a malty note and a long finish the Zhang Lang is a great example of what makes the Bada Mountain region a great value. In the tea world, the description “Vegetal” comes with a huge variety of definitions. Everything from grass and stem-like flavor notes to herbaceous notes of seeds. The Zhang Lang has more of a depth with some smoke notes and earth floor types of flavours. It is important to note though that a dozen tasters will detect perhaps a dozen different flavor notes. Some locals refer to that malty or dark honey description as being the most accurate. Regardless of what you detect and feel we hope that the leaves take you on a journey.
