June: Pulang (Unfermented)

Club selection of June 2013 - Pulang Mountain unfermented Puerh has been cultivated and harvested at 2000 meters and remains one of the most isolated tea growing regions in  southern Yunnan. Harvested and produced by the ancient Pulang people, this is a perennial favourite of Jeff's. Discover Pulang tea even further with Jeff.

Tasting Notes - Pulang teas in general are known for their clear vegetal hints and at times intense 'green' power. Less a bitterness than an astringency, the teas are a great example of a 'fresh' tea taste. It is both the production methods, and the soil and species that contribute to these vegetal green impressions. We recommend taking in a little quick intake of air when sipping the tea, then keeping the tea in the mouth while taking in a bit more air to circulate within the mouth to get a 'taste' of the Pulang. Much the same as with wine and Scotch, the oxygen blends with the flavonoids to create impressions within the mouth. For the Pulang, tea is meant and should be strong, both in taste and intensity.
