September: Bada Mountain Sheng

Club selection of September 2017 - Ideal in many ways for those seeking a great example of what a Sheng or raw Puerh can be, Bada Mountain has long produced phenomenal Puerhs. Soil conditions are ideal and the isolation of the area has kept air-born pollutants at bay. The local Hani pride themselves on creating teas that have been consistent year after year. This autumn 2016 harvest has had some time to settle. Teas when first produced can carry fresh and almost tart flavours of green that settle with time. Many locals have shown a preference for teas that have had between 6-18 months to develop from the time of harvesting. Discover Bada Mountain tea even further with Jeff.

Tasting Notes - A tea that will handle many infusions and continue to open up, maintaining crisp tones, this is a classic example of a Sheng Puerh. Bada teas have strength and a great finish. The soils and great drainage contribute but the processing is also a key reason that Bada teas have long been considered one of the better Puerhs. Vegetal is one of the words used to describe raw Sheng Puerhs the Bada carries loads of character from its high altitude home in the Bada Mountains. This is a great tea to consume now, but also a tea that we feel will age with months and even years.
